Catherine Tate has cleared up speculation over her possible return to the Doctor Who franchise.

Rumours have recently circulated suggesting that Tate could reprise her role as Donna Noble, a character who was last seen in 2010 starring as the companion to David Tennant’s 10th Doctor.

A representative for the actor has denied the speculation in a statement issued to RadioTimes.com, stating: “I can confirm Catherine is very much not in Liverpool and is not on [the] DR WHO set.”

Tate had reportedly been seen in Liverpool on the same day that the Doctor Who cast and crew had been in the city, shooting for its 13th series.

Given the return of John Barrowman’s character Captain Jack in season 12,  fans believed that a surprise appearance from Tate in the forthcoming season could be on the cards.

Tate’s character Donna made her last appearance in the franchise in 2010, starring in its fifth Christmas special titled “The End of Time”.

Last year, Tennant and Tate recreated their famous 2007 Comic Relief sketch starring Tennant as a teacher and Tate as an unruly student – this time, with a lockdown twist.
