Catherine Tate bovvered about losing Bafta

I thought when one of the first classes actors took at drama school was how to look rip-roaringly delighted when you lose at an awards ceremony. It's pretty basic stuff. The cameras after all will be watching and so will we at home. And who wants to look ungracious? They do it so well at the Oscars - all broad grins and wild clapping.

Well at last night's TV Baftas, any such training had clearly gone out the window. John Simm looked more and more glum as Life on Mars lost out on Best Drama Series and Best Actor (though thankfully it did eventually win the Audience award).. But did you see the look on Catherine Tate's face - her mouth plunging to her chest - when Mitchell and Webb won Best Comedy award? Was she bovvered? You betcha.

Oh and I do feel a little bit sorry for Katie Hopkins all of a sudden. You know, the incredibly irritating one off The Apprentice with the mouth full of tacks. Richard Curtis' urging of us all to make the world a happier place, as he took the Bafta Fellowship, was typically warm and cosy until he disclosed he wouldn't mind starting by killing that posh bird off the Apprentice. I'm not sure Alan Sugar has laughed that hard all year.
