Catherine Spence missing: Loanhead woman vanishes from her home with searches now underway

The family of a missing Loanhead pensioner are growing increasingly worried as police carry out searches for her in Midlothian.

Catherine Spence (71) hasn't been seen since leaving her house in Burndene Drive at around 3pm on Wednesday. She left the address in a red Seat Arona car, registration SM18 NPE, and her whereabouts are currently unknown.

Police say that her disappearance is "completely out of character" and her family are growing increasingly worried.

She is described as being around 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build and with blonde, bobbed hair. She was last seen wearing black skinny trousers, a red coat or anorak, black boots and was carrying a brown bag.

Inspector Helen Miller from Haddington Police Station said: "Catherine has been missing for several hours now, which is completely out of character for her, and her family is understandably worried about her. We have a number of police resources out looking for Catherine in the local area."

Anyone who thinks they've seen her is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2590 of 29 January.
