Cath Kidston holding 50 per cent off sale as chain prepares to go into administration

Quirky vintage homeware store Cath Kidston is reportedly preparing to go into administration.

The retailer only has one store left in Bristol - at Cribbs Causeway - after closing its Park Street and its Cabot Circus branches in 2018.

The chain, which is known for its brightly patterned clothing and bags is set to enter administration by the end of this week, the BBC is reporting, putting nearly 950 jobs at risk.

The company had already confirmed earlier this month that it had appointed advisory firm Alvarez & Marsal as administrators.

Cath Kidston has currently closed all its stores and put 820 staff on furlough during the coronavirus outbreak, but the business is still trading online - and it is currently having a 50 per cent off sale.

UK standard delivery on orders under £40 is free and will arrive in seven working days, according to the company's website. And the retailer is accepting returns within 100 days of purchase.

Designer Cath Kidston opened her first store in London in 1993 - and by 2015 had grown the chain to more than 200 branches worldwide.

The retailer was bought up in 2016 by Baring Private Equity Asia.

The news comes as Debenhams also prepares to go into administration for a second time in a year, casting doubt on 22,000 jobs.
