Catering equipment firm Nisbets continues growth with new deal

Catering equipment giant Nisbets has continued its recent expansion with the completion of its third acquisition of the year.

The firm, which is based in Bristol and is one of the largest suppliers to commercial kitchens across Europe, has secured a deal for fellow catering equipment and furniture rental firm Jongor Hire for an undisclosed sum.

London-based Jongor stocks the largest range of catering equipment for rental in the UK and fulfils over 2,000 orders each year. The firm has supplied major events such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup and The BRIT Awards, as well as the NHS and National Grid.

Nisbets has already bought barware supplier Beaumont and Cornish engineering services business UK Engineers in 2022.

Jongor has been headed up by managing director Joe Nisbet, a director of Nisbets’ holding company Key West Holdings, since 2015.

As part of the deal, Mr Nisbet will step back from running the firm, with Gerry Rankin appointed to replace him. Mr Nisbet will remains a shareholder of the company, which said he would “continue to work closely to help integrate and support” the firm into the Nisbets group.

Jongor will continue to trade as a separate entity, with Nisbets saying the remainder of its existing staff would continue to work for the company.

Robin White, Nisbets’ managing director for UK and Ireland, said: “Today’s announcement marks another important strategic step in our evolution as a business.

“This acquisition, coupled with our recent acquisition of UK Engineers and our existing Chef Leasing business, provides our customers the flexibility of a full solution from purchase, rental, lease, and servicing of equipment and underlines both our optimism and our absolute commitment to ensure the highest standards of service in the catering and hospitality sector.”

Gerry Rankin, the newly appointed managing director of Jonger, added: “We are delighted that Jongor Hire will be working more closely with Nisbets and today’s announcement will allow both companies to truly utilise the benefits of being part of the same entity.

“Our combined knowledge and expertise will allow us to serve our customers better than ever before and I look forward to our harnessing of these opportunities in the years to come.”

Nisbets stocks more than 35,000 products online, by phone and through a network of 28 physical retail stores.

Headquartered in Avonmouth and chaired by founder Andrew Nisbet, the firm employs more than 2,000 people worldwide and has offices in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and Australia.
