TV: The Vote
By now, it might be that you’ve simply had enough of politics. It would be understandable given the length of the election campaign. But if you can find room for one more political wafer-thin mint, this James Graham play starring Catherine Tate, Mark Gatiss and Nina Sosanya almost certainly deserves a look. First broadcast live from the Donmar Warehouse on election night and covering – both temporally and thematically – the last hour-and-a-half before polls closes, it’s a neat idea but one that may end up getting slightly lost in the hubbub of the day. If you were too busy exercising your democratic right to sit down and watch a play about other people doing the same, here’s another chance.
Audio: Weathervane Music
In these days of confusion over what constitutes a viable platform for new music, all manner of unusual projects are blooming. This US non-profit website runs on donations and offers a showcase for promising young artists to do their thing. In turn, the artists must write, record and mix their track inside two days, with the whole process artfully filmed for exhibition on the site. The musical selections lean decisively towards the wholemeal and worthy but it’s a decent idea that has given exposure to the likes of Torres, Sharon Van Etten and Mr Twin Sister.
TV: Poldark
And with one last flourish of his artfully dishevelled mane, Aidan Turner’s triumphant Poldark was gone. But only for now, in an entirely unsurprising development, this entertaining slice of Sunday night period generica has been recommissioned. Still, if you’re already missing the big man, you can relive his season one climax for another week or so here.
TV: Private View
After last year’s artistic expositions from Michael Eavis, Benjamin Zephaniah and Goldie, this occasional web-only series returns. This time, Tinie Tempah is exploring the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A. It feels a little tentative at first as Tinie struggles to let himself go. But the format allows us to relax and, eventually, our host does too. By the end, his enthusiasm is evident and he does a decent impression of a curator and critic.
TV: Entourage
The Entourage lads will be taking their slightly over-ripe though hugely popular LA banter to the big screen this June. To get any stragglers up to speed, Sky has taken the opportunity to stick all eight seasons of the show on to its on-demand service.
