Catch Photographer of the Year competition launches for industrial imagery

The Humber process industry is embracing World Photography Day with the launch of a competition focusing on the sectors it serves.

The first Catch Photographer of the Year is being sought, with the intention to showcase what the region does.

The focus will be people, with the winner to be announced at an awards ceremony on September 24.

The winning photographer will receive a hamper of local goods, with the photograph framed, printed and put on display at the Catch site in Stallingborough.

It, together with the three runners-up photographs, will be showcased on the Catch website, social media and in the organisation’s 2021 Awards Dinner Brochure, as well as local media.

Lisa Buck, events and marketing manager at Catch, is an accredited photographer with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, and will be joined by Catch chief executive David Talbot, head of membership Katie Hedges and regional business editor for Reach Plc, David Laister, on the judging panel.

“To celebrate World Photography Day we are excited to announce a brand new competition – the Catch Photographer of the year!  The competition theme is ‘a moment in industry’ and is designed to showcase and capture on camera the diversity of industry in the Yorkshire & Humber region.”

The competition is open to all aged 18 or over, professional or amateur, with the deadline for entries September 18.

Submissions should be as jpeg files, no larger than 1MB. Winners will be required to submit a larger file size should they be shortlisted.

Digital manipulation is allowed, but adding or removing key elements is not. Judges have the discretion to reject any image which has been, in their opinion, over-processed.

Photographs should be new, not those published previously, and have been taken in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
