Officers prevented a possible disaster as they discovered a dangerous situation at a home where four children lived. Greater Manchester Police raided a property in Trafford which was believed to have been used for the drugs trade.
After executing a warrant at the address in Timperley, officers discovered a small cannabis farm and class A drugs. But it was another discovery which appeared to be putting the children inside at serious risk.
An extension lead which was being used for the cannabis farm had such an 'excessive' current, that the socket being used was beginning to melt away. In a post on social media today (March 7), GMP Trafford said the situation could have led to 'catastrophic' consequences.

A spokesperson for GMP Trafford South wrote: "As part of Trafford’s neighbourhood week of action, Team one with the assistance of the Neighbourhood Crime Team executed a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act Warrant at an address in Timperley. The warrant was a positive result and a small cannabis farm was discovered along with Class A drugs.
"To our horror this extension lead being used was to power lighting from a bypassed electric meter. Due to the excessive current being drawn this extension lead was starting to melt which could [have] had catastrophic consequences for the occupiers of the address which also housed four young children! Arrest made and offender to custody."
