Police are warning North Side residents about a string of recent catalytic converter thefts in West Ridge and Rogers Park.

In each incident, someone cut the catalytic converter from the bottom of a vehicle and fled, Chicago police said.

The thefts happened between 5 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4 p.m. Aug. 4 in:

  • The 2600 block of West North Shore Avenue;
  • The 6700 block of North Lakewood Avenue; and
  • The 6600 block of North Maplewood Avenue.

Police did not provide a description of any suspects, but warned residents to look out for double-parked cars that are kept running and people with power tools hanging out near vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area Three detectives at 312-744-8263.
