Catalytic converter thefts reported on South, SW sides: police

Police are warning residents on the South and Southwest sides of a series of catalytic converter thefts reported over the last month in Fuller Park, Gage Park, Canaryville, Bridgeport and McKinley Park.

In each case, someone took the catalytic converters from parked vehicles, Chicago police said in a community alert.

The thefts happened:

  • Between 1:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 4200 block of South Princeton Avenue
  • At 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 5200 block of South Campbell Avenue
  • Between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. Aug. 21-22 in the 5100 block of South Campbell Avenue
  • Between 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 22-23 in the 3200 block of South Hamilton Avenue
  • At 10:15 p.m. Aug. 22 in the 3400 block of South Claremont Avenue
  • At 5 a.m. Sept. 5 in the 4300 block of South Emerald Avenue
  • At 7 a.m. Sept. 5 in the 3700 block of South Union Avenue
  • At 8:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 800 block of West 37th Street
  • At 10:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 3300 block of South Emerald Avenue
  • Between 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 3300 block of South Emerald Avenue

Police said two males were involved in the thefts but did not immediately provide a further description.
