Catalytic converter thefts reported in Lake View, Wrigleyville

A string of catalytic converter thefts have been reported in Nov. and Dec. 2019 in Lake View and Wrigleyville. | Brian Powers

Three catalytic converter thefts have been reported since November in Lake View and Wrigleyville, police said.

In each case, the suspects used a power saw to cut the catalytic converters from the vehicle during evening and overnight hours, Chicago police said.

The first theft happened at 3:36 p.m. Nov. 28 in the 3100 block of North Honore Street, police said.

Another happened between 6 p.m. Dec. 18 and 5:35 a.m. Dec. 19 in the 3700 block of North Wayne Avenue, and the third was at 3:28 a.m. Dec. 19 in the 3700 block of North Freemont Street.

The suspects are described as two males, police said.
