A cat that went missing five years ago has mysteriously been found 260 miles away from her home.
The feline, Rosie, went missing in 2016 and her owner had given up hope that she would be found.
But now, the tortoiseshell cat has turned up at a house in Wirral, Merseyside on Tuesday.
It is suspected that she travelled all that way after somehow getting onto a vehicle, and she was taken in by someone who was feeding her.
After being checked by RSPCA inspector Anthony Joynes, it was discovered that the lost cast was registered to an address in Southsea, Hants.
He then tweeted about finding Rosie as he was unable to contact the owner.
Mr Joynes said: "I've collected this beautiful girl.
"She's called Rosie and is chipped and registered missing from an address in Southsea, Hants.
"She's been found at an address on the Wirral some 260 miles away and I'm struggling to contact the owner."
Thankfully, after he posted about the cat on social media, he was able to track down the owner.
He said: "I've had contact from the owner of Rosie and she's been missing for over five years.
"Who knows what adventures she's been on in that time.
"She's in great condition so someone must have been caring for her."
He added: "Any number of things could explain what's happened, such as that she's jumped in a lorry."
The tweet was met with a flood of comments from cat lovers.
Debs Phillips said: "She's beautiful. Really hope she gets to her family soon."
"Wee darling she's stowed away. She's gorgeous," said Cath Hepburn.
Suzanne Jones said: "It gives hope to others whose cats are missing."
Another person, Gill, added: "That's a long way from home."
