Cat who was found sexually abused and burnt is showing 'small signs of improvement'

A young cat who was found with burns all over her body and signs of sexual abuse is "showing small signs of improvement", the RSPCA has said.

Nine-month-old Minnie was severely abused and is still unable to stand, GetSurrey reports .

The tortoiseshell feline was found on Sunday (June 2) suffering from awful injuries.

Liz Wood, deputy manager at RSPCA’s Millbrook Animal Centre in Woking, described the incident as "heartbreaking" adding the centre has never seen a cat so abused before.

Speaking on Monday (June 3), she said: "It appears she may have been severely abused and she has a number of wounds full of maggots.

Minnie is being cared for by the RSPCA (RSPCA)

"The vets believe these may have originally been burns as she had candle wax all over her tail. She also shows signs of having been sexually abused - it is absolutely awful.

“Minnie also had a makeshift splint on one of her front legs and is currently not able to stand on her back legs so we think she has some soft tissue and nerve damage as her x-rays are clear of any fractures."

Minnie's condition is "heading in the right direction" as she continues her treatment at a local vets on Tuesday (June 4).

An RSPCA spokesman said: "Minnie has come off a drip today (June 4) and has been showing small signs of improvement, but sadly she still isn't able to stand yet.

"However we are hopeful that she is heading in the right direction as she is a little fighter. We are still urging anyone who has any information about what happened to Minnie to call us on 0300 123 8018."

Surrey Police has been contacted for a comment however at this stage the incident hasn't been reported to them, according to a spokesman.
