CAT Telecom will use its telecom infrastructure to become an integrated digital service provider, in line with the Thailand 4.0 and Asean digital hub policies.
CAT said it is transforming itself from a telecom infrastructure provider into an integrated digital service provider.
"CAT aims to bring new technology to improve performance and increase convenience and speed while lowering costs," said executive vice-president Dhanant Subbhadrabandhu.
As an integrated digital provider, CAT will use its strength as a national service provider to develop and acquire new technologies, he said. Apart from telecom infrastructure, including national and international communications services and the internet, CAT is also supporting a number of government projects like smart cities.
CAT helped finalise the Phuket Smart City project by creating a high-speed communications network consisting of 1,000 free WiFi locations and 2,000 beacon stations, as well as a Long Rang Wide Area network to provide Internet of Thing services. Smart Phuket 4.0 will allow tourists to conveniently receive important information, said Mr Dhanant.
There is also telecom infrastructure supporting the province's development, with an eye toward making it a smart city model for other provinces, he said.
CAT is providing a big data sandbox for data analysis via the cloud for government agencies to increase efficiency, convenience and speed of service.
