NEW YORK — It was an MVP performance by firefighters who saved a cat that got stuck in New York Giants cornerback Isaac Yiadom’s car.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said Sunday they were called to Yiadom’s Florida home after the feline got trapped above the rear differential of the NFL player’s Maserati.
“Thankfully the kitten was a lot slower and less agile than Isaac and crews were able to make a successful rescue,” reads a Facebook post shared by the fire rescue organization.
The Facebook post included a photo of the firefighters freeing the cat from the vehicle, as well as images showing them posing with Yiadom.
Yiadom, 25, played in all 16 games last year, starting 10, during what was his first season with the Giants.
He recorded five passes defensed and 46 tackles during the 2020 season.
The cornerback played the first two seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos before being traded to the Giants last September for a seventh-round draft pick.
