American singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, better known as Cat Power, has long had an affinity with Melbourne, Australia. She recorded her fourth album Moon Pix (1998) there, backed by Australian band Dirty Three.
Her music is emotive, fragile and enigmatic, but her latest album, Sun (which debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard charts) ushered in a new sound with some hard-won contentment. She returns to the Melbourne stage with her powerful new music .
