Cat owner ‘can never leave home again’ after re-watching her pet camera

"Devastating" pet camera footage showing a lonely cat 'crying' and searching for his owner with a lead in his mouth has gone viral.

Ida Myrin's cat Isola appeared so distraught after being left at home for just 30 minutes she now feels she can never leave him alone again.

A Reddit post containing the video has been upvoted more than 120,000 times since it was shared last month with many viewers commenting on how disturbing the behaviour is.

The cat owner, from Varmland, Sweden, said the longer she watched the clip, the more distressing it became, despite initially thinking it was cute.

“We thought it was pretty cute at first but when we noticed that he didn't stop it just felt sad," Ida told the Daily Star.

“He talks a lot with that ‘whiny’ and sad voice and tone so it's hard to tell [if he’s crying].

“But he also hates being alone tho, so maybe he is crying.”

She added that Isola “seemed so lonely and restless”.

“It felt like we never could leave him alone again,” Ida - editor of newspaper Nya Wemlands-Tidningen - added.

The footage shows the cute kitty patrolling the hallway apparently trying to find his owner.

With a lead in his mouth, Isola looks even more desperate to not be left alone.

The cat then starts meowing in what hundreds of Reddit viewers believe was a form of “crying”.

“Oh that mournful sound,” one viewer commented.

Another devastated user wrote: “This made me cry a little.”

And a third added: “This is devastating to watch.”

It's not the first time the strange habits of pets have been caught on camera.

Last week Brittany Lashay spotted her blue nose pitbull Sparks sitting on his hind legs in front of her sofa - like a human.

While Nick and Voirrey Coole were astonished to find their pet cat Candy had sneaked into the hand luggage before they headed to the airport bound for New York.
