Cat lucky to be alive after being shot through eye with arrow

An adorable cat is lucky to be alive after it was shot through the eye and skull with an arrow.

The feline was rescued by the Kunming Yixin Animal Protection Association after reports an animal had been severely wounded with a 10cm arrow in Kunming City in south-west China.

Guo Xin, who found the cat, posted a video on social media condemning the “b*tch who did this.”

Images show how the arrow pierced the cat’s eye and was lodged deep into its skull.

The moggy was taken to a vet and the arrow was quickly removed in a one-hour operation.

The video shows how large tools were used to cut the enormous arrow and carefully remove it from the cat’s skull.

The animal managed to survive the operation and could be seen recovering from its wound with dark marks around its left eye

The cat was said to be very weak after the operation with it’s heart briefly stopping twice after the surgery.

It is unclear who the abuser was but Xin believes that there is an owner who has not come forward.

He added: “We will help the cat find an adopter when it's fully recovered.”

PETA Asia said in a statement: ”Only a coward would abuse animals.

"We appreciate the rescues by compassionate animal rights activists like Guo Xin. According to Chinese regulations crossbows are just like guns and their ammunition belongs to weapons under control.

"Buying, selling, and keeping crossbows without permission is illegal. We hope eyewitnesses in Kunming can provide information about the abuser to the police so that they can be punished by law."

No arrests have been reported.
