A man who “butchered” a pet cat after subjecting it to a horrifying bout of torture has been jailed for six months.
Stefan Wallace, 25, filmed himself inflicting pain on the cat with spray paint before eventually ending its life.
The Met Police officer who uncovered the “horrifyingly cruel behaviour” now fears Wallace may have been responsible for many more animal deaths in the past.
“The footage found at Wallace’s address was disturbing in the extreme”, said PC Tony Kiddle, from the East Area Command Wildlife Unit.
“Given the vast number of ways that domestic pets, roaming freely, can come to harm, it would be difficult to put a number on the level of his offending.
“But, given the content of his home footage, I believe that it is likely that he has played a sinister part in the deaths of a number of animals as in recent years.
“Wallace has exhibited horrifyingly cruel behaviour and it is reassuring to know that he has been removed to a place where he can cause no further harm to beloved pets.”
Wallace was caught out after being arrested on October 1 for possession of a machete, and admitting to officers he was responsible for “butchering” a cat.
In the video of him torturing and killing a cat, found on a flash drive at Wallace’s Dagenham home, he is wearing a mask but reveals his identity while adjusting the camera.
Wallace admitted animal cruelty and was jailed for six months yesterday.
Barkingside magistrates banned him from owning, keeping, or trading animals for the next ten years.
