Cat causes chaos by 'joining in' with family's Elf on the Shelf poo mischief

Many kids will know the trouble that those pesky Elf on the Shelf chaps can get up to over Christmas - but for one family, it turned out that it wasn't Santa's little helper that they had to watch out for.

Mum Sophia Williams pulled out all the stops for the festive tradition this year, and hoped to give her kids a shock with the latest mischievous instalment of the Elf's nightly antics. Using chocolate, Sophia scrawled the words 'Poo, yuck!" on the bathroom wall with a guilty-looking Elf sat beneath the cheeky message.

In keeping with the festive tradition, the Elf was framed for the incident with the idea to make it appear as if the naughty doll had smeared Elf poo on the walls when the family were sleeping. But when Sophia's nine-year-old daughter Hollie wandered into the bathroom come the morning she got a much bigger surprise than her mum had planned, PlymouthLive reports.

Beneath the suspicious sign in the bathtub was a huge poo that definitely wasn't made out of chocolate - and while it may have briefly seemed like the Elf had truly come to life, Sophia quickly worked out who the culprit was. The mum quickly came running after Hollie shouted out about her discovery and was horrified to see that their cat Amber had joined in on the action.

"I didn’t see [the cat poo] at first, it was Hollie. I go to look thinking she’s referring to Buddy the Elf's chocolate antics and realise the cat has taken a dump in the bathtub! She never poos in there!" Sophia shared.

"The kids found it hilarious, obviously. I'm just glad I didn’t get round to cleaning the bathroom yesterday," she added.
