Casualty rushed to hospital after Tameside fire which caused 'loud bangs'

A casualty has been rushed to hospital after a fire which caused 'loud bangs' in Tameside.

Fire crews rushed out to Inverness Road, in Dukinfield, in the early hours of Monday morning (September 6) following reports of the blaze.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says that three fire engines were sent out to the scene after being called at around 1.10am.

The fire service says the fire involved a shed and two houses, and was well alight by the time crews arrived at the scene, where they remained for around two hours.

Residents living close to the scene reported hearing a number of 'loud bangs' which sounded like 'fireworks' when the fire broke out, before fire crews arrived.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “In the early hours of this morning (Monday, September 6), at around 1.10am, we received reports of a fire involving a shed and two houses on Inverness Road, Dukinfield.

“Three fire engines from Hyde, Ashton and Hollins fire stations were quickly at the scene, joined by an aerial ladder platform from Manchester Central.

“The fire was well alight when crews arrived, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four hose reels, two positive pressure ventilation units and other specialist equipment to contain and extinguish the fire.

“GMFRS crews were in attendance for just over two hours.”

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service told the Manchester Evening News that a casualty had been taken to hospital following the fire.

The ambulance service was called out at 1.22am this morning, the spokesperson added.
