Casualty fans compare BBC series to horror film after gruesome butcher scene

Casualty fans are used to a bit of blood, guts and gore on the BBC show.

However, this evening's episode might have proven to be a bit too much for the hospital-based soap.

Tonight's episode of Casualty featured a gruesome scene involving a butcher who ended up having his arm cut open.

The episode began with the horrific accident which saw the butcher accidentally put his hand through a meat slicer and end up in hospital.

Viewers were left reeling by the rather unpleasant scenes.

One viewer took to Twitter to say: "I'm not normally squeamish but that scene with the butcher saw!"

Another viewer added: "Knew there was an accident waiting to happen to the butcher ooh that made me jump."

A third Casualty fan said: "Been a few years since #Casualty made me jump and cover my eyes but that butcher slicing his arm did!"

However, that wasn't the only disturbing thing to happen in tonight's episode of Casualty.

Viewers were left in a state of shock by scenes involving a woman falling through some stairs which just gave way underneath her.

Many people took to Twitter to comment on this rather scary moment from tonight's episode.

One person wrote: "Watching #Casualty tonight is like waiting for the worst bits of a horror film."

Another Casualty viewer added: "i think i have a fear of stairs after that... it was like something out of a horror film."

A third viewer commented: "It's like a f******* horror. Keep jumping!!"
