Castlewellan: Person taken to hospital after sustaining injuries while cycling in forest park

A person was taken to hospital on Tuesday evening after being injured in a Co Down forest park.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service responded to an emergency call at 5.45pm on Tuesday, July 26, following reports of a person having sustained injuries in Castlewellan Forest Park.

The injuries were sustained while the person was cycling.

NIAS despatched an emergency crew to the scene and also tasked the Charity Air Ambulance to the incident.

After initial treatment at the scene, the patient was taken by ambulance to Daisy Hill Hospital.

A spokesperson for NIAS said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 17:45 on Tuesday 26 July following reports of a person having sustained injuries while cycling in Castlewellan Forest Park.

"NIAS despatched an Emergency crew to the scene and also tasked the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, the patient was taken by road ambulance to Daisy Hill Hospital."
