Castleview Nursery and School for children with profound and complex needs is celebrating after a member of the team was shortlisted for a national award.
Danica Meiklejohn was recently shortlisted for The Outstanding Community Inclusion Award, a category of the Communication Matters AAC national awards, held at the University of Leeds.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Danica is passionate about communication for all and ensures to provide the support which is needed for individual learners to have their communication needs met.
“We are very proud of her achievement of being shortlisted amongst such strong leaders in AAC.
“We work very hard to enable all our learners to the best of their abilities in Castleview and it is truly wonderful to have one of our teachers recognised in this way.
“Danica has been at Castleview for seven years.
“Our school consists of children aged nursery through to P7, all of whom have complex and profound needs. We have seven amazing teachers, a principal teacher and head teacher Jaki Robinson, who is also lead for Ochil House, the feeder high school for Castleview. We also have a large support team who work hard every day to support our learners.

“We are very proud of our Castleview Team. Everyone goes above and beyond for our children and their families.”
The AAC - Alternative Augmented Communication Awards - are held every year in Leeds with nominations coming from across the globe.
