Castlemilk thug is facing jail after permanently disfiguring his partner

A Castlemilk thug is facing jail for domestic violence.

Antony McNally, 33, of Croftfoot Drive , was found guilty by a jury at Airdrie Sheriff Court of assaulting his partner , causing her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.

A jury took just over two-and-a-half hours to find McNally guilty of the brutal attack which happened on March 9, 2019, at a house in East Kilbride.

During the trial, jurors heard how McNally assaulted the woman by causing her to fall to the ground and while she lay there he repeatedly punched her on the head causing her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.

It was revealed at the end of the trial that, when McNally carried out the vicious assault, he was on two bail orders from Glasgow Sheriff Court , imposed on him in September and October 2018.

The jury found McNally guilty under the deletion from the original charge of the words “and did seize her by the throat, compress, restrict her breathing and repeatedly punch her on the head”.

Prosecutor Chloe O’Hara moved for sentence and presented a schedule of previous convictions for McNally, which were admitted.

Defence agent John Kilcoyne told the court he would save his comments until the case is next called in court.

Sheriff Morag Shankland deferred sentence until March 12 calling for a full Criminal Justice Social Work Report.

He was released on bail.
