Castlemilk pensioner, 84, injured as three robbers force their way into her home

An elderly woman has been left needing hospital treatment after a "despicable" robbery in her Glasgow home.

Police are hunting three men who forced their way into the home of an 84-year-old woman in Bowhouse Drive, Castlemilk, at around 9.20pm on Tuesday evening.

The men ransacked her house, taking precious items of jewellery and money.

The pensioner has been left badly shaken and sustained a wrist injury during the incident and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

There is limited information on the three suspects so far other than that they are all white males.

Officers also want to speak to the occupants of an Audi that was seen in the area during the time of the incident that may be able to assist with enquiries.

Detective Inspector Clark Hill said: "This has been a very frightening experience for an elderly lady in her own home.

"She has sustained an injury in the incident and has lost items of jewellery which are extremely precious to her.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to think back and consider if they saw anything which seemed a little suspicious.

"Did you see the Audi car, did you notice three men hanging around the area? Any small piece of information could prove vital and help us identify the men responsible for this despicable crime."

Additional officers have been deployed to patrol the area for reassurance and for anyone with information being urged to approach these officers.

Otherwise they could call officers via 101 quoting incident number 4063 of Tuesday, March 26 - or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
