Castle Street in Swansea to close for three days for roadworks

A busy road in Swansea city centre will be closed for three days for roadworks.

Castle Street will be closed for up to three days from Tuesday, November 5.

The closures will be in place as Swansea council replace the cobbled section of Castle Street with Tarmac.

The aim of the work is to improve the road surface for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

The work is scheduled to take place between 9.30am and 3pm each day.

Bus diversions will be in place during the closure.

A spokesman for Swansea Council said: "As part our planned maintenance work, we are replacing the cobbled section of road with Tarmac.

"This will provide an improved road surface for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. Work is being carried out off peak to minimise disruption for motorists and diversions will be in place during the closure."

Changes to bus routes

Serivces 4, 4A, 11, 12, 13, 16, 24, 25, 28 and 34 will leave Swansea Bus Station and divert via Christina Street. Services to Townhill and Mayhill will not serve Belle Vue Way.

Services 36, 110, 111, X6, X11 and X13 will depart Swansea Bus Station and divert via The Strand and New Cut Road before resuming their normal routes.

These services will not serve High Street Station outbound. Swansea westbound services will use St Helens Road and Nicholl Street.

Customers who would usually board services at St Mary's Square, Caer Street, Lower High Street, Belle Vue Way (for services 11/12/13) and High Street Station (for services 36/110/111X6/X11/X13) are being urged to catch buses at Swansea Bus Station instead.

Inbound services are not affected.
