Castle Rock pub forced to close due to staff having to isolate

A Castle Rock Brewery pub has been forced to close this week due to staff shortages and workers having to self isolate.

The Willowbrook in Main Road, Gedling, will remain closed up until Friday, July 16, when it will reopen at noon.

A statement on the pub's Facebook page announced the reason behind the pub's closure after customers were left wondering.

It said: "This is due to low staffing levels and staff isolation, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

"Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you all on Friday."

However, the pub will be honouring the functions and wakes it has booked in this week.

Staff having to self isolate, either due to testing positive for Covid, or being pinged by the NHS Test and Trace app after coming into contact with someone with coronavirus, is proving an ongoing problem for pubs and restaurants.

The Old Cross pub in Stapleford has temporarily closed after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Councillor John McGrath, who runs the pub, said: "We have just decided we would shut for the week until all the staff have tested clear; they have done their isolation."

A number of pubs, cafes and restaurants have been hit by staff having to self isolate.

The Crafty Crow, The Ned Ludd, Alchemilla, and San Patrie have all suffered temporary closures but are now open once again.
