Castle Douglas youngster to climb Screel for Poppyscotland

A Castle Douglas youngster aims to hit new heights this weekend for charity.

Eight-year-old Angus Ross is planning to climb Screel on Saturday and in the process raise hundreds of pounds for Poppyscotland.

Proud dad Derek said: “He normally helps me with the poppy collection but he was saddened this year that he couldn’t do it due to the current climate.

“So he decided to climb Screel to raise money. We set a target of £150 and he’s already smashed it a few times over.

“He did a practice run on Saturday and he’s doing it this weekend. I think the weather maybe spoiled us on Saturday but hopefully it’s still good. He’s done well so far.”

Donations can also be sent to Derek Ross at 21 Cairnsmore Road, Castle Douglas DG7 1BN.
