Castle Douglas Primary's highly respected head teacher to retire

The highly respected and popular head teacher of Castle Douglas Primary is retiring.

David Tyson’s career has lasted nearly four decades but today – the final day of term before the Easter holidays – will be his last day.

David’s teaching career started in 1983 at Park Primary in Stranraer and he moved to Castle Douglas as depute head in 1992. He was then head teacher at Gelston Primary and Penninghame, including Glentrool and St Ninian’s, before returning to Castle Douglas Primary to spend the last 10 years of his career as head teacher.

The parent council, staff and whole school community wish to thank him for the hard work, dedication and kindness he has shown.
