Castle Douglas Primary pupils get fit with special sports week ahead of the school holidays

Castle Douglas Primary School kids got fit and active as part of their sports week ahead of the school holidays.

One major event was a virtual relay with the aim of keeping a sporting or exercise activity going throughout the whole day without any breaks.

In total, 29 children and their families took part using their 30-minute time slot to go for a walk, jog, scooter or cycle.

The marathon relay lasted 11 hours – beginning at 7.30am with the last child completing the final leg at 6.30pm.

The children were cheered on remotely by their teachers who also joined in on the day.

P4 class teacher Skye Sarahs said: “We knew our sports day would look a little different this year so we wanted to find a way to keep our classes active at home while having fun with their families.

“We are so proud of everyone who participated in our sports week activities.

“Although we are apart our relay let us achieve something together.”
