This year’s Douglas Lad and Lass started their reign in the rain on Sunday evening.
Rory Telfer and Chloe Pickthall were installed by last year’s Douglas Lass, Katie Henderson, at a special sashing ceremony in Market Hill that took place in poor weather conditions.
It was part of the traditional charter ceremony which starts seven days of Civic Week.
Those who braved the rain also enjoyed an evening of Scottish entertainment that included singing and performances from Kirkcudbright and District Pipe Band.
Douglas Day is on Saturday, with the parade setting off from Wallets Mart at 2pm.
