Castle Douglas IT Centre receives computer equipment donation from Dumfries and Galloway College

A project that recycles old computer equipment has received a huge donation.

Dumfries and Galloway College has provided The IT Centre in Castle Douglas with 25 tablet computers, two laptops, six monitors and an iMac for its Re Use it scheme.

The programme refurbishes donated equipment to give to schoolkids for online learning and also those most in need.

The gift of recently retired equipment came about after a member of the college spotted a Facebook post from the IT Centre calling for donations.

College principal, Joanna Campbell, said: “Digital skills and promoting reusing and recycling are key principles for Dumfries and Galloway College so making this donation is exactly in line with our values.

“By making this gift, we’ve allowed the technology that no longer fits our needs to be used by someone else and are actively supporting the IT Centre in promoting digital skills in our region.

“As a college, we are proud of our record of working with charitable organisations, and other stakeholders, like the IT Centre, to promote our common vision of a sustainable and highly-educated south of Scotland.”
