Castle Douglas High School pupils told to self-isolate during October holidays due to coronavirus case

Several pupils at Castle Douglas High School had to spend the October holidays self-isolating.

A number of parents received a letter from NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s public health department saying they had become aware of more Covid-19 cases in the Stewartry “including within the school community”.

The letter, sent out last week from public health consultant Andrew Rideout, advised that their child had been in “close contact” with someone with coronavirus and was at risk of developing it themselves.

As a result, they were told to self-isolate in the family home. Other people in the same house could still go out unless the person developed symptoms.

They were also told to keep their distance from the child who was self isolating.

The self-isolation period was due to come to an end today.
