Castle Douglas golfer Ailsa Brannock wins St Andrews Junior Ladies Open

Castle Douglas golfer Ailsa Brannock continued her recent good form, winning the St Andrews Junior Ladies Open last week.

Ailsa, who is a member at Castle Douglas and Southerness clubs scored a 3-under round (41 stableford points) over the Strathtyrum course to take home the St Andrews Links Trust Quaich.

The 17-year-old birdied the 17th hole and then eagled the 18th hole to pull away from the rest of the field to win by three points.

Ailsa said: “It’s amazing to shoot under par scores away from my home courses. My handicap is now 0.7 which is my lowest ever but I hope one day to have a scratch handicap.”
