Castle Douglas Community Centre opens its doors with successful open day

Castle Douglas Community Centre opened its doors to the public at a successful open day.

The event was designed to promote the centre, its activities and the groups using it to the town and surrounding communities.

And organisers were rewarded with a good turnout both of user groups and members of the public.

David Young, chairman of the board of trustees, said: “There was a real buzz about the place. We did a couple of presentations about our plans for the future and got a lot of interest in that.

“And considering we had a bit of competition from a coffee morning at the church hall and events at Crossmichael and Dalbeattie, we did very well. We were very pleased with the support we got from the people of Castle Douglas.”

User groups and clubs who turned out included Latin, artists, spinning and Better Lives.

Mr Young added: “The event further supported our message that Castle Douglas Community Centre is open for business.

“We were delighted with the support we received from the business community of Castle Douglas as well.”
