Castle Douglas charity left disappointed after vandals wreck greenhouse

A greenhouse belonging to a charity that helps young people with autism has been wrecked.

Members of Staff at the Better Lives Partnership were alerted on Monday morning by the team at Castle Douglas Community Centre that the metal frame had been ruined.

Charity administrator Amanda Ansbro said: “It’s just disappointing for the young people.

“We had been based at Cotton Street and when we moved here we were warned that things behind the community centre get vandalised so we had already taken the plastic out. There was nothing being grown in it at the time but it means it can’t be used come spring or summer. It’s such a shame as we have other things to be focussing on.

“Someone has offered to help with fundraising for a new one so hopefully we can sort something out.”
