The Earth’s Crust Bakery in Castle Douglas hasn’t been loafing around in building success.
And it certainly rose to the occasion at the DGBusiness Awards.
The go-ahead enterprise was named Outstanding Independent Retailer – one of 12 category winners.
Tom Van Rooyen, who owns the bakery with wife Pavlina, was delighted to scoop the honour.
“It’s great, it’s fantastic and we are really, really proud to be named best independent retailer,” he said.
“We pride ourselves both on our quality of produce and our service.”
Elsewhere in the awards, ETB Technologies from Dalbeattie picked up the Outstanding Large Business title.
The competition, sponsored by Cunninghame Housing Association, attracted more than 150 entries.
Lee Medd, member services manager for Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce, said that streaming on YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn meant that “for the first time ever the whole world could witness the amazing businesses we have in the region”.
