A classic drama set in the Scottish Highlands is making a return to screens alongside a brand new cast that has been revealed.
Monarch of the Glen is being rebooted by Channel 5 as a new six-part series.
It is a comedy drama that ran for seven series between 2000 and 2005 on the BBC.
Produced by Ecosse Films and Masterpiece PBS, the drama tells the story of high-flying London lawyer Isla Campbell, played by Julia Brown, who returns to her family’s crumbling Highland estate for her estranged father’s funeral.
She soon discovers she has inherited a mountain of debt and is forced to stay and confront her past.
Brown said: "I’m so excited to be stepping into the world of Monarch of the Glen and bringing Isla Campbell to life.
"Isla is ambitious, sharp and fiercely independent, but returning home to Scotland forces her to confront her past, her family and a future she never expected.
"I am so, so proud to be joining such a talented cast and cannot wait to bring this heartfelt story to audiences."
She stars alongside Chris Fulton as her brother Alasdair, who refuses to give up the family home.
Other cast members include Ewan Miller as gamekeeper and family friend Ewan, Rishi Nair as businessman Daniel, Phyllis Logan as Morag, John Gordon Sinclair as family lawyer Fergus, and Gordon Kennedy as stockman Angus.
Logan said: "Monarch of the Glen holds such a special place in people’s hearts, so it’s a real privilege to be part of its return.
"The scripts are full of wit, warmth and wonderful characters, and I’m delighted to be working alongside this brilliant cast and crew.
"It will be great fun to welcome audiences back to Scotland."
The series, created and written by Jeremy Brock, is being filmed in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
It was commissioned by Paramount UK for airing on 5 and is also expected to air in the US on Masterpiece PBS.
It is expected to be broadcast in 2027.
