Cast of The Bill appear on This Morning to announce hit show's return

Former cast members of hit police series The Bill joined Holly and Phil on This Morning to announce the show's return to our screens.

The Bill began airing on ITV back in 1983 until its end in 2010.

The award-winning series was phenomenally popular among viewers throughout its 26 year run.

Now, the first five seasons of the show will return to UKTV where the episodes will be available to stream.

More seasons are expected to be added in the future.

Presenters Holly and Phil chatted with former cast members via video link, who spoke of their love for the show and their delight at its return.

Actor Trudie Goodwin, who played Sergeant June Ackland, revealed she had never wanted the show to end.

Graham Cole, who played PC Tony Stamp, and Mark Wingett, who played PC/DC Jim Carver, also appeared on the popular morning show to talk about the series, with both expressing fond memories of their time on The Bill.

The actors said they were like "family" during filming.
