The Associated Press released their preseason All-American Team and it was headlined by Michigan State leader and star point guard Cassius Winston. The news came just a day after MSU was named the AP preseason #1 team for the first time ever. Winston was the only consensus selection on the team

“He is the straw that stirs the drink and I think deserves all the attention he’s been getting because he is a special player,” Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said of Winston “But I think he’s handled it pretty well too with a lot of class and has worked hard.”
Cassius probably had a good enough season last year to make his way to the NBA, but his return has established Michigan State as the most hyped team in the NCAA heading into the season.
“You’ve got little taste of it. That’s never enough,” Winston said. “You want to take it another step further.”
