Cassius Winston listed #1 contender for Bob Cousy Award by Andy Katz

This isn’t exactly the biggest surprise in the world, but Andy Katz of NCAA.com has listed Cassius Winston as the top candidate to win this upcoming men’s basketball season’s Bob Cousy award, awarded to the nation’s top point guard.

This is not exactly a shock given that Winston isn’t just considered a leader to win the Cousy award, he’s also a frontrunner to win the Naismith award as well.

Reigning champion Ja Morant will be heading off to the NBA via the lottery shortly, making Cassius Winston the top-ranked point guard in the country right now, with highly ranked prospect Markus Howard from Marquette right behind him. Interestingly, Howard could have been a near lottery pick if he left for the NBA this summer, but decided to return to Marquette. This has an MSU element, as two of Howard’s best teammates, Joey and Sam Hauser, are transferring out of Marquette, with Joey making his way to Michigan State in 2020.
