Cassius Winston is the second two-time consensus All-American in MSU history

When it was announced that Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston was a consensus Second-Team All-American for the second straight year, it cemented another piece of history for Winston as he joined Mateen Cleaves as just the second player in MSU history to earn that honor multiple years in a row.

Cleaves was a consensus Second-Team All-American in 1998 and First-Team in 1999 and 2000, winning the title in 2000.

The NCAA’s ‘consensus’ All-American teams are based on the voting from the Associated Press, Sporting News, United States Basketball Writers Association, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Winston was voted Second-Team by all four voting bodies. He did earn two First-Team selections last season.

Winston also set more history this year when he passed Mateen Cleaves to become the All-Time leader in assists for the Big Ten Conference.
