Cassanova McKinzy is one of PFF’s best pass-rushers through three weeks

Cassanova McKinzy continues to put on a show this preseason for the Washington Redskins.

McKinzy was recently the subject of big praise and noted guys like Ryan Kerrigan were helping him pursue improvement.

Now, McKinzy stands as one of the pass-rushers with the best grades at Pro Football Focus so far, per Gordon McGuinness:

From 54 pass-rushing snaps, he has racked up two sacks, three hits and four hurries, with the added bonus of a forced fumble and batted pass. He saw 24 snaps as a pass-rusher in the regular season for the Redskins a year ago but was unable to generate any pressure.

Call this a massive win for all parties. McKinzy had a tough injury last year but has continued to be a nice undrafted story. The Redskins needed somebody besides Montez Sweat to step in and help replace the production lost by Preston Smith.

While it is only preseason and McKinzy isn’t always going against the ones, it is abundantly clear he should have a sizeable rotational role.

And at this trajectory, it’s hard to project when and if McKinzy hits a ceiling soon.
