A large sum of cash along with mobile phones and "high value clothing" have been seized as part of an investigation into money laundering in south Dublin.
The money and property was seized by gardai during a raid in the Castletymon area of Tallaght this morning.
A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of money laundering following the search and is being detained at Tallaght garda station.
The operation was led by gardai from the M District Drugs Unit, who were assisted by local officers and the Garda Armed Support Unit.
Gardai said: "During the operation a house was searched in the Castletymon area where Gardaí seized €8,500 in cash along with three mobile phones and a number of items of high value clothing as part of the investigation.
"Following the search, a man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station.
"The operation was carried out as part of an ongoing investigations into suspected Money Laundering and follows the seizure of €49k cash in the Tallaght area on August 31st 2020."
