Cash and drugs found in coffee jar after police bring in sniffer dogs

A large sum of money and bags of drugs were found dumped in a coffee jar in a drainpipe in Bootle.

Police were called to Akenside Road at around 2.15pm yesterday.

Officers were near a disused railway line, with police dogs, and saw "several suspicious characters".

A Facebook post by Sefton Police reads: "Drugs and cash found near to #Bootle park! Local PCSOs asked for assistance from @merpoldogs (the force's police dogs section) on a nearby disused railway line after seeing several suspicious characters run away from them as they approached.

"The substantial haul, containing several wraps of brown powder, was found in a coffee jar in a drainpipe. #BootlePCSOs #Litherland #Seaforth"
