Case Keenum trade to Washington is bad news for Teddy Bridgewater

The web that is the Vikings quarterback situtation.

On Thursday, per multiple reports, the Broncos agreed to a deal in which Case Keenum will head to the Redskins.

With Alex Smith likely out for the 2019 season, Keenum is the starter in Washington.

That’s not-so-great news for another former Vikings quarterback.

Teddy Bridgewater is a free agent looking for a team this offseason, and preferably a team that is in need of a starter. While you can argue with Keenum being a starter, it’s hard to see the Redskins paying Smith $15 million next season, Keenum $3.5 million (the deal was restructured where both teams split the $7 million guaranteedand Bridgewater whatever deal he is looking for.

Washington was one of the teams we thought Bridgewater would be a nice fit on.

Colt McCoy is also under contract for $3.75 million next season, but the Redskins can cut him with no penalty.

There aren’t many teams in need of a quarterback for 2019. The Jaguars are likely going to get Nick Foles. Maybe Tampa Bay or Tennessee, but we’ll see. Maybe the Bengals?

We all love Bridgewater, but it’s looking more and more like he’ll be a backup in 2019.
