Case Keenum named starting QB vs. Dolphins; Haskins is backup

Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan will be giving quarterback Case Keenum another shot under center in Week 6. Keenum has been named the starting QB for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Keenum started the year as QB1 for the Redskins, but he was pulled a few games into the year due to a foot injury, leading to rookie Dwayne Haskins and veteran Colt McCoy filling in in his stead.

Haskins is now listed as the backup, which might surprise some people after Callahan said earlier in the week that the rookie needed more time to grow and would likely occupy the QB3 role. It was at times questioned whether or not Haskins would even be active for this game, or whether his role would go to another position.
