Case Keenum isn’t concerned with his standing on the depth chart

The first Washington Redskins unofficial depth chart of the offseason featured Colt McCoy as the starter — leaving Case Keenum second, only ahead of rookie Dwayne Haskins.

Let Keenum tell it though, he isn’t too worried about what a piece of paper says about his standing, according to NBC Sports Washington’s Ethan Cadeaux:

“I didn’t know. It’s news to me. Whatever reps I’m getting, I’m getting ready to play. That’s hands-down what I’m doing. [The depth chart] is for you guys to talk about. I’m not going to change what I do and how I approach each day.”

And indeed, the Redskins went out of their way to stress the depth chart release was unofficial and only to comply with rules. That McCoy, the quarterback with the most experience with the Redskins and their system, is listed as the first name isn’t a shock.

In time, Keenum has a very good chance of taking the top spot and entering the season as the starter. He’s shown some arm limitations in camp at times but he’s a veteran who has started for multiple teams, so once he’s fully acclimated, it isn’t hard to see him taking the gig.

Regardless, he’s letting others worry about depth charts while he focuses on the task.
