Case Keenum compares Terry McLaurin to a young DeAndre Hopkins

As a veteran quarterback who has played with four different teams in his career, Case Keenum has been around the block and thrown to his fair share of receivers.

In Houston, he got to experience DeAndre Hopkins as a rookie. In Denver, he saw the likes of Courtland Sutton coming into the league. Now in Washington, he’s gotten the chance to watch Terry McLaurin burst onto the scene to the tune of five touchdowns in the first six games of his career.

“I’ve played with a lot of guys that are really talented,” Keenum said to the Media on Thursday. “Courtland Sutton was one of those guys as a rookie. DeAndre Hopkins — I played with him as a rookie. He’s special, Terry is. He’s right in the group of really, really talented receivers in this league — not just rookie receivers in this league. We’re fortunate to have him, and I enjoy throwing him the football.”

After an impressive career at Ohio State, McLaurin was selected by the Redskins in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and so far this season, he leads all rookie receivers in touchdown catches, despite his teams’ 1-5 record and a rotating door at the quarterback position.

Though Keenum never went as far as to say McLaurin would someday be as good as ‘Nuke’ Hopkins, he made sure to state that ‘F1 McLaurin’ is one of the best young receivers in the game, and he has a chance to be one of the great pass-catchers that the NFL has seen.
